World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly (Vatican Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life)
Pope Francis instituted the Church-wide celebration of World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly to be celebrated the fourth Sunday of July, close to the liturgical memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus.

The U.S. bishops invite older persons, their families, and their faith communities to develop new initiatives that encourage the participation of older persons in society and in the Church.
